Pulsing Sinularia

frag size is 1 inch—–Price $20—–in stock
This is the rare pulsing sinularia you have heard about. Under low flow conditions you can see her polyps pulsing kind of like a Xenia, but slower. A Xenia has no stomach and cannot capture prey so a Xenia is probably pulsing to keep water moving. She does this to bring in fresh oxygen and dissolved nutrients and also to wash away waste products. I am convinced, however, that the pulsing sinularia pulses for more efficient prey capture. When a “cloud” of food hits her, you can see every polyp on the animal slam shut to try to capture as much of the “plankton swarm” as possible! This makes her a very fast grower. She is extremely hardy. One of the very few tan/brown corals that I will keep just because of her neat pulsing! She’s been in captivity since 2004-2005.
